The restaurant chain Rostic’s, which will replace the KFC that left Russia, plans to open about 1,000 new outlets throughout the country within five years. About it informed in an interview RBC co-owner of Smart Service (buyer of the Russian business Yum! Brands, which owns the KFC brand) Konstantin Kotov.

“We see the potential to open about 1,000 restaurants in five years,” he said.

Kotov noted that one of the strategic ideas for scaling up the business will be the development of new Rostic’s formats in remote regions. According to him, the network’s restaurants may appear in medium and small towns, as well as urban-type settlements with a population of up to 40,000 people. At the same time, the company does not plan to enter new regions, including Crimea.

The first Rostic’s restaurant will open in Moscow near the Mayakovskaya metro station on April 25, Kotov said. He clarified that by the end of summer 2023, about 100 KFC outlets will pass under the brand.

April 17 American Yum! Brands closed a deal to sell Russian KFC restaurants to the Izhevsk company Smart Service. As a result of the transaction, the company receives 70 restaurants and becomes a franchisor for 1,058 partner outlets, which it is obliged to rebrand as Rostic’s.

Yum! Brands, which owns the KFC brand, announced the suspension of investments in Russian assets on March 7, 2022 amid a special operation in Ukraine. In total, more than 1,100 KFC outlets and 50 Pizza Hut outlets were opened in Russia at the end of 2021. Of these, the company owned only 70 KFC restaurants, which were closed in March.
