The company ARM, which bought Decathlon sporting goods stores in Russia in September, is launching a new chain of sports stores called Desport. The first retail facilities will open in December.
“ARM LLC is launching a new network of sports stores Desport. Desport stores will open their doors in December this year, and the assortment will be formed as goods arrive,” the company told TASS. As clarified by AWP, the name of the new network comes from the Old French word “desport”, which translates as “entertainment”, “game”.
The company plans to expand the range of sports stores through both its own brands and other well-known brands. Desport also plans to open its online store in the near future.
Decathlon suspended operations in Russia in March 2022. At the end of July 2023, the Ministry of Industry and Trade reportedthat the chain has found a buyer for all its stores in Russia, the Russian company ARM (owns Mango franchises). It was about the sale of 36 Decathlon facilities located in Russia – 35 stores and a warehouse. September 11, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Viktor Evtukhov statedthat the former Decathlon stores will open before the end of the year.
