As Kommersant learned, the structure of the Italian Campari Group asked to prohibit the local distributor Master-Trade from importing and selling drinks under its Aperol brand in Russia. With a corresponding statement the company appealed to the Arbitration Court of the Rostov Region.
Campari Group is the world’s sixth largest producer of premium alcohol. It produces products under the brands Aperol, Campari, Wild Turkey, etc.
The claim of the Campari Group structure – Davide Campari-Milano NV – Kommersant found in the file cabinet of arbitration cases. Campari points out that no consent has been given for the supply, and Aperol is not included in the parallel import.
In this regard, the company demands a ban on the release of its products in Russia. The court asked Campari to confirm the violated right. The meeting is scheduled for October 30.
After the entry of Russian troops into Ukraine, Campari stopped investing and reduced its business in Russia. Despite this, according to Kommersant, from January to July of this year, Campari Rus imported 3.12 million liters of alcohol to Russia (3.58 million liters in 2022). The revenue of Campari Rus over the past year increased by 20.9%, to 7.5 billion rubles, net profit amounted to 507.6 million rubles.
