The Oscars in 2024 will be remembered not only because the film “Oppenheimer” took away the lion’s share of awards. This time, the event participants became objects of ridicule, central figures in shameful situations and targets of strange jokes by the event host.

It is not known whether the host of the ceremony, Jimmy Kimmel, will be invited somewhere else after the Oscars, but at the awards ceremony itself, he quite angered the A-list stars.

The host teased Robert Downey Jr. by including in his monologue a reference to the actor’s use of illegal substances.

Downey Jr., who won best supporting actor for his role in Oppenheimer, stood stone-faced on stage as Kimmel made a crude joke at the start of the ceremony, referring to the star’s past passions.

“And Robert Downey Jr., one of the pinnacles of his career,” the host said as Robert Downey Jr. touched his nose, prompting the host to add, “Was that too witty or were you making a drug suggestion?”

This was followed by an equally strange phrase: “But look at him, he is so handsome, so talented, he has won every possible award. Is that an acceptance speech in your pocket or do you just have a very rectangular penis?”

The joke really didn’t work as the actor looked grim as he looked into the camera, while fans of the stars criticized Kimmel for his jokes about substance abuse.

Kimmel later drew the ire of Emma Stone, who had something strange happen to her outfit when she went on stage. Recalling her role in the film “The Lost and Lost” and making jokes about the abundance of explicit sex scenes in it, Kimmel said: “That’s all the parts of “The Lost and Lost” that we are allowed to show on television.”

The camera then showed Stone’s face. Some suggested that the actress even called the presenter a moron.

Jimmy Kimmel further recalled: “At the 46th Academy Awards in 1974, David Even was introducing Elizabeth Taylor when a naked man ran across the stage. Can you imagine if a naked man ran across the stage today?”

Also tonight is a very bad politically correct show, and for many years – disjointed, boring and very unfair. Why not just give the Oscars to those who deserve them?
