Reports about a multiple increase in taxi prices throughout Russia do not correspond to reality; in most regions the cost of the service has not changed, the press service of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation reported.

“In most regions, prices did not change; in some regions there was a slight increase (from 1 to 5%), which is a consequence of the start of the school year and the return of the population from vacation,” – leads TASS message.

The department added that, together with regional authorities, the Federal Antimonopoly Service and carriers, they are monitoring the situation with prices in some regions.

On October 5, Deputy Director of the Department of State Policy in the field of automobile and urban passenger transport of the Ministry of Transport, Vladimir Lugovenko, said that on average in the Russian Federation, taxi prices increased by 5%, but in some regions the rise in price was 44%, conveyed RBC. In total, according to him, taxi services have become more expensive in half of the regions, in another 45% prices have not changed, and in 5% they have decreased. He named the main reason for the rise in prices as the regions’ insufficient readiness to implement the law on taxis before it came into force on September 1.

Previously it became knownthat the cost of 1 km of taxi travel reached a record 32.53 rubles in June. Since the beginning of April 2021, prices for taxi trips have begun to rise continuously. Then the average cost of a trip per 1 km of travel was 25.69 rubles. The strongest increase was recorded in the first half of 2023 – in June, taxi services increased in price by 4.03% compared to January.

At the end of December 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law regulating taxi operations. The document contains standards regarding requirements for a taxi driver, as well as for the external and internal appearance of the car. In addition, according to the adopted law, the carrier is obliged to store data on orders for six months and provide them at the request of law enforcement agencies.

In Russia, the Federal State Information System (FSIS) “Passenger Taxi” began operating in the fall. Ministry of Transport system, wrote formerly Vedomosti, will be an aggregator of information about taxi drivers and the companies in which they work: full names, company names, data on issued permits for taxi activities, driver’s license data, etc. The Information Center of the Ministry of Transport will store all this data.
