The Ministry of Finance announced three OFZ auctions for 40 billion rubles for the first time since February 24

On September 14, 21 and 28, the Ministry of Finance will hold auctions for the placement of federal loan bonds. The planned volume of placement will be 40 billion rubles at face value. These will be the first releases since February 24th.
As follows from the post on website departments, two types of OFZ will be placed – with a maturity of 5 to 10 years inclusive and with a maturity of 10 years. OFZ for 5-10 years will be placed in the amount of 30 billion rubles, from 10 years – for 10 billion rubles.
On September 8, Deputy Finance Minister Timur Maksimov said at the Moscow Financial Forum that the agency intends to test demand in the debt market. “Our tactic for the near future, a few weeks, it will be to test the market with a very limited volume. We are probably talking about 10-20 billion rubles,” he said.
The last time the Ministry of Finance placed federal loan bonds was on February 9th. According to Mr. Maksimov, foreign investors were the driving force behind the long-term OFZ market. Their volume, noted the Deputy Minister, will not be able to take on Russian investors, as they suffered losses due to sanctions.
