Serbia will replace Russian oil with its own, Iraqi and Iranian

The Serbian authorities intend to replace Russian oil with their own, Iraqi and Iranian raw materials, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Mining and Energy Zorana Mihajlovic said. From November 1, Serbia will not be able to import Russian oil due to sanctions.

“From November 1, we will no longer import Russian oil, we will primarily have oil from Kirkuk (Iraq.— “b”), will have its own oil, because NIS (Oil Industry of Serbia.— “b”) has about 20% of Serbian oil, and the rest will be Iranian or some other oil,” Zorana Mihajlovic told the agency. TANYUG.

Ms. Mihajlovic added that in 2021, Serbia imported 25% of oil from Russia, received another 20% from its own production, the rest of the needs were covered by supplies from Kirkuh. She also noted that after the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine, Serbia imported more Russian oil because the raw material was much cheaper. “But I don’t see any problems in this, they are working on it, contracts are being signed, so we, in any case, will use non-Russian oil, as provided for by the sixth package,” she said.

From November 1, Serbia will not be able to receive Russian oil due to EU sanctions. Oil from Russia for the country is delivered by tankers across the Adriatic Sea to Croatia, after which it is pumped through the JANAF pipeline. At the same time, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has repeatedly declaredthat will not impose sanctions against Russia.
