Individual investment accounts (IIA) of the third type required for tax benefits, opened before 2027, will be valid for five years. These conditions were agreed upon at a meeting of the Ministry of Finance with stock market participants in June, reports Forbes with reference to sources.
According to the publication, after the first three years, it is planned to annually increase the validity period of the third type of IIS by a year or more, depending on how popular this mechanism is. The press service of the Ministry of Finance said that “now such an approach is being considered: starting from five years, then – gradually, annually – increasing it to ten years.” The ministry did not comment on the details of the meeting. The Central Bank said that the final approach to the procedure for increasing the minimum period for maintaining the IIS of the third type will be determined when finalizing the bill.
The IIS system has been operating since 2015. An account for an individual can be opened by a broker or trustee. For accounts of the first type, a tax deduction is provided – 13% annually for a contribution of no more than 400 thousand rubles. It will no longer be possible to open the first two types of IIS from 2024, the previously opened ones will continue to work. In June, the State Duma rejected draft law on insurance of funds for IIS.
