The Ministry of Energy of Russia and the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) have developed acts to increase by 1 p.p. the minimum standard for exchange sales of gasoline and diesel fuel. The Ministry of Energy explained that this measure will increase the supply of fuel in the domestic market and stabilize prices.

“FAS together with the Ministry of Energy developed draft acts on the planned increase in exchange sales of motor gasoline and diesel fuel from September 1, 2023 by 1 percentage point,” the agency told reporters. TASS.

Under current regulations, companies must sell through the stock exchange 12% of the total volume of gasoline produced and 8.5% of diesel fuel. Initially, the FAS proposed to increase the standards in connection with a record increase in stock prices for gasoline. This proposal was supported by Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak.

At the same time, the Ministry of Energy stressed that there is no shortage of gasoline on the Russian market, demand fully meets supply. “Fuel production is gradually increasing after the completion of the first wave of planned repairs at the refinery. The situation on the Russian fuel market is under control,” the ministry said.

Since April, the wholesale prices for AI-92 and AI-95 gasoline at the St. Petersburg International Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange have repeatedly updated their historical maximum. On the eve of the cost of AI-92 for the second day in a row exceeded 60 thousand rubles per ton, AI-95 was traded for 66.395 rubles. per ton. At the same time, the volume of fuel sales on the stock exchange for the first half of the year decreased by 11.2%.
