Burberry quarterly revenue up 17% driven by demand in China and Japan

Today, the British manufacturer of premium clothing and accessories Burberry informedthat in the first quarter of fiscal year 2024 ended July 1, the company’s retail revenue was £589 million, up 17% from a year earlier. The company said that the largest growth was recorded in China (+46%), Japan (+44%) and Southeast Asia (+39%). Sales in the EMEIA region (Europe, Middle East, India and Africa) grew by 17%, while sales in the Americas decreased by 8%.

Burberry CEO Jonathan Akeroyd noted the company’s “good progress” thanks in large part to a recovery in demand in China. Among the Burberry products that were in particularly high demand last quarter were specified outerwear, including traditional raincoats, as well as leather goods.
