The Ministry of Economics will study the possibility of conducting uncoordinated inspections of places where alcohol is sold

The Ministry of Economic Development will consider the possibility of conducting inspections in places of retail sale of alcohol without the consent of the prosecutor’s office, reported government press office.

“The Ministry of Economic Development of Russia was instructed to provide for the possibility for the constituent entities of the Russian Federation to carry out certain control measures in relation to the retail sale of alcohol without the consent of the prosecutor’s office,” the statement said following the meeting of the State Commission on Combating Illegal Trade in Industrial Products.

The Center for the Development of Advanced Technologies (CRPT) and Rosalkogolregulirovanie, in turn, were instructed to conduct a monthly reconciliation of the volumes of beer and low-alcohol drinks packed in kegs put into circulation. Based on the results of the reconciliation, the departments will have to develop a “risk indicator of violations of mandatory requirements”.

Today, July 13, State Duma accepted the law on the introduction of fines for violation of the requirements for the production and circulation of beer and beer drinks, cider, mead, etc. The document introduces a new article into the Code of Administrative Offenses, according to which violation of the requirements for the production and (or) circulation of the above drinks will threaten legal entities with fines in in the amount of 100,000–150,000 rubles. with possible confiscation of products, equipment and raw materials. In case of gross violations, the amount of the fine increases to 150,000–200,000 rubles, and the manufacturer will face a suspension of activities for up to thirty days.

July 8 at Rosalkogolregulirovanie supported the proposal of the leader of “A Just Russia – For the Truth” Sergei Mironov and MP Yana Lantratova to lift the moratorium on unscheduled inspections in the production and circulation of alcohol.

In early June, mass poisoning with surrogate alcohol occurred in several regions of Russia. The reason was alcohol brand “Mr. Cider”, which was produced in the Samara region. The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reported that in the course of a chemical forensic examination, impurities of methanol and ethyl butyrate were detected in the seized cider in proportions dangerous to humans. More than 100 people were poisoned from drinking the drink, 36 of them died.
