The Ministry of Digital Development plans to ban its employees from using the iPhone for official purposes. This was told by the deputy head of the department Alexander Shoitov during the Forum of Future Technologies.
“We plan to adopt the same order (for subordinate organizations – ”b”). It is now being coordinated, I think that this – next week,” said Mr. Shoitov (quote from TASS).
Today, July 13, Rostec State Corporation reported, which from July 17 will prohibit employees, including organizations belonging to the holding, from using Apple equipment for official purposes. The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation introduced similar ban.
In March, Kommersant wrote that employees of the internal political block of the presidential administration were recommended to change iPhone phones to smartphones of other brands and with a different operating system. In June, the FSB said that several thousand Apple devices of Russian diplomats had been infected by US intelligence agencies with malware. The Kremlin considered that the use of the iPhone in the civil service is “unacceptable and prohibited.”
