Cultural figures who left Russia at a difficult time for the country, who also publicly spoke out against the country’s culture, are “absolutely logical” to leave the posters of state cultural institutions. This was reported in the press service of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.
The department emphasized that a large number of appeals are received from citizens who are outraged by the presence of such figures in the information and advertising materials of state institutions. It is argued that this request comes “first of all from society, and we cannot and should not ignore it.”
Earlier it became known that in Moscow the Russian Academic Youth Theater and the Alexandrinsky Theater in St. Petersburg removed the name Boris Akunin from posters of performances that were staged based on his plays and books. The writer himself spoke about this telegram channel.
According to him, the titles of the plays remained, but “instead of the author, there is emptiness.” As artistic director of RAMT Alexei Borodin said, this is the requirement of the Ministry of Culture. The writer in response advised to do “what is best for you.”
In September, the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin at events, dedicated to the 1160th anniversary of statehood in Novgorod, said that no one can “cancel” Russian civilization and rich culture. He stressed that it is impossible to destroy or undermine Russian values.
