The Russian Ministry of Agriculture has approved a bill proposing an increase in fines for violations of the use of pesticides in agriculture. Roman Nekrasov, director of the department of crop production, mechanization, chemicalization and plant protection of the Ministry of Agriculture, spoke about this during a meeting at the Federation Council. writes “Prime”.

“We supported the bill to increase the amount of fines. We believe that in fact the Code of Administrative Offenses needs to be amended and the liability of unscrupulous persons who use pesticides in agriculture and do not comply with the regulations for their use should be increased. If someone exceeds the dosage, works at the wrong time, works within the wrong boundaries, then the fines need to be increased and multiplied,” Nekrasov said.

The director of the department clarified that the largest research institutes are involved in the development of regulations. In his opinion, this guarantees no damage to animal or plant objects other than those against which the pesticide is designed.

Currently, legal entities face a fine of up to 100,000 rubles for violating the rules for handling pesticides. or administrative suspension of activities for up to 90 days.

In June, the Ministry of Agriculture supported the idea of ​​fining Russians for hogweed. The bill was developed by deputies of the United Russia party. The authors proposed to fine the guilty legal entities in the amount of 400,000 to 700,000 rubles. Nekrasov then stated that the bill would allow more active work on putting unused agricultural land into circulation if it is affected by hogweed.
