The Ministry of Agriculture proposed to create a national food distributor

The Federal Center “Agroexport” of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia announced a competition for the creation of the concept of a national distributor of products of the agro-industrial complex (AIC), follows from the data on the public procurement portal. The starting price of the contract is 24.1 million rubles.
How reported RBC in the press service of Agroexport, the goal of the initiative is for exporters to enter new markets and increase the supply of agricultural products in target markets. Because of the sanctions, Asia, the Middle East and Africa are named promising markets for agricultural exports, it follows from the documents.
The developer of the concept will have to conduct at least 20 interviews among domestic producers of the agro-industrial complex, and then analyze the models of work for export food supplies and create their own. The result of such a study will be a “practice-oriented” roadmap “” for the development of a national distributor.
Agroexport clarified that the distributor must have access to logistics and storage of goods. It is assumed that the structure will help Russian companies in finding partners abroad, delivering goods, customs clearance of cargo, etc. Most of the services will be paid, but the costs can be partially compensated by the state, Agroexport added.
Since 2015, Russia already has a state institution for supporting non-commodity exports – the Russian Export Center (REC). It provides exporters with financial support measures and interacts with relevant authorities. However, Agroexport emphasized that the new concept would not duplicate existing support measures. The REC noted that they would take part in the development of the project.
Earlier, the Ministry of Agriculture allowed a ban on the import of seeds from the EU and the USA into Russia as counter-sanctions. The agency warned the regional authorities in charge of the agro-industrial complex of the need to increase purchases of Russian-made planting material.
