Ministry of Agriculture informedthat will not revise the quota for grain exports in the current season. The quota is set at 25.5 million tons, it is valid from February 15 to June 30. During this period, it will be possible to deliver 25.5 million tons of grain abroad, the department added.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, by the beginning of the quota, grain exports had already amounted to 35 million tons. The target by the end of the agricultural year (June 30) is about 60 million tons. The agency expects that this “will allow to maintain the necessary stocks and ensure food security” of Russia.
“There are no plans to increase the quota. At the same time, based on the results for February-April, we can consider the possibility of redistributing volumes in favor of more intensively working exporters,” the Ministry of Agriculture added.
In July-November 2022, 23.75 million tons of wheat were exported from the Russian Federation (against 21.9 million tons for the same period in 2021). By increasing exports, the authorities expect to contain problems caused by an excess of products on the domestic market in the context of the refusal of the Ministry of Agriculture to purchase grain from the market for the intervention fund.
