Russian producers of dairy products have enough stocks of bacterial starter cultures. This was reported in the Ministry of Agriculture.
“Currently, domestic enterprises of the dairy industry have formed sufficient stocks of the necessary raw materials and components, including bacterial starter cultures,” says in the message.
The press service noted that the supply of raw materials for dairy products to Russia continues. The country is also working to stimulate the production of domestic ingredients. In particular, there is a biofactory that produces 160 tons of products per year in the Yaroslavl region. Another enterprise will be built in the Moscow region, the Ministry of Agriculture specified.
Earlier today in an interview RBC founder of the agricultural holding “AgriVolga” Sergey Bachin declared about the “total dependence” of Russian producers of dairy products on imported sourdough for sour cream. He noted that if the EU decides to impose sanctions in this industry, then “there will be no sour cream in Russia.”
In April 2022, the founder of the Molvest dairy holding (Vkusnoteevo brand) Arkady Ponomarev also expressed concern about a possible ban on the supply of sourdough to the Russian Federation. In an interview with RBC, he said that Molvest produces products on its own sourdough, but most companies depend on imports. So far, “no one has vetoed supplies,” but there are such risks, he noted.
