Recovery work after a large-scale failure on one of the data storage systems of the distributed regional data processing center (RRDC) of St. Petersburg, serving the city’s information services, will be completed on February 3. Vice Governor Stanislav Kazarin spoke about this.
“During the night of February 2, our specialists carried out restoration work with the data storage system. The work was carried out successfully, the system performance was restored. Currently, work is underway to restore the operation of the GIS affected by the failure. It is planned to complete these works within 24 hours,” the official wrote in his Telegram channel “Kazarin on digital air”.
A number of city information services of St. Petersburg came out out of order the day before, February 1. The problem affected the portals “Health of a Petersburger”, “Gorzdrav” and “Our St. Petersburg”. The service for tracking the geolocation of public urban transport, which submits information to 2GIS and Yandex transport services, also failed. The problem also affected the payment for parking in the city center. Smolny has already announced that it will not fine drivers for non-payment of parking spaces on February 2.
