The Japanese automaker Isuzu exited the Russian market by transferring shares to a local subsidiary. About it informs Kyodo.
By data NHK, shares moved to “Sollers” July, 12. It is noted that the assembly plant in the Ulyanovsk region with a staff of 200 employees was transferred to the Russian company. Kyodo recalled that Isuzu suspended production in Russia amid the Ukrainian crisis. Due to the inability to resume the assembly of cars in the Russian Federation, it was decided to leave the Russian market.
The Isuzu assembly site began operating in Ulyanovsk in 2006. The auto concern was engaged in the production of pickups, trucks and special equipment. In 2021, it produced about 3,700 small and large trucks. Production in Russia accounted for about 1% of the company’s global production.
In the spring of 2022, Isuzu production in Russia was suspended as assembly kits stopped coming from Japan due to the imposition of sanctions against Russia. The fact that the concern can leave the country, became known in September last year. Logistical problems were cited as possible reasons.
Against the backdrop of the start of Russia’s special operation in Ukraine, a number of major automakers suspended deliveries to Russia and left the Russian market. In May 2022, the Ministry of Industry and Trade included 50 car brands, including Isuzu, on the list for parallel imports. In March 2023, the list was expanded several other car brands, including HyundaiKia and Dacia.
