The main prize of the film festival “Spirit of Fire” won the Iranian film “Parallax”

The main prize of the XXI International Film Debut Festival “Spirit of Fire” – the “Golden Taiga” award – went to the film “Parallax” by Iranian director Shahram Ebrahimi. The festival was held from 3 to 6 March in Khanty-Mansiysk, on the jury of international debuts presided over Russian director Pavel Lungin.
“Parallax” tells the story of a girl who dreams of acting in films and her jealous husband, according to the synopsis of the film festival.
In addition to this tape in the international program “Spirit of Fire” were included six pictures:
- “Clementine” by Constance Feldman and Agustin Mendilaharsu (Argentina);
- “Like an Actress” by Sebastien Bailly (France);
- “On both sides of the pond” Partha Saurabha (India);
- Alien Eyes directed by Wang Chun-Hung from Taiwan (China);
- “Torao” Kazuya Murayama (Japan);
- “Knots” by Oleg Khamokov (Russia).
The Silver Taiga award went to the film On Both Sides of the Pond, the Bronze Taiga to Alien Eyes.
For the best Russian debut, the “Golden Taiga” award was given to the painting “The Cage Is Looking for a Bird” (Malika Musaeva). The best actress was Khadija Batayeva (“The cage is looking for a bird”), the actor – Vladimir Svirsky (“Nish”), reports RIA Novosti.
The Serbian director Emir Kusturica was the President of the festival-2023, the Russian debuts competition jury was headed by the Russian director Alexei Mizgirev. Emir Kusturica could not attend the festival due to a broken leg.
Rules festivals say that the film must be the director’s first or second full-length work in the field of feature films.
The paintings participating in the international competition must not have been previously publicly shown on the territory of Russia.
