The mobile operator of the Luhansk People’s Republic “Mobile Communication Systems” (ISS) from February 11 will completely restrict subscribers’ access to mobile Internet, reported press office ISS.
The press release notes that the decision to turn off the mobile Internet was made in accordance with the recommendations of the Federal Antimonopoly Service and on the basis of the order of the Ministry of Digital Development dated September 10, 2022 “On Restricting Internet Access Services”, which was not published in the public domain. “At the same time, meeting the increased need for our subscribers to communicate, we will increase the number of minutes within the network by 10 times on the Optimal and Optimal + tariff plans,” the press service said.
January 25 ISS Director Eduard Egorov declared on the air of the TV channel “Lugansk 24” that there is no mobile Internet operator in the entire territory of the republic. In December, the Minister of Telecom and Mass Communications of the LPR Andrey Eremenko said TASSthat the number of ISS subscribers in the LPR is 1.2 million people. According to him, by December, 52.3% of the republic’s territory was covered by mobile communications. Of these, 9.55% of the territory is covered by the 3G standard, 4.32% – by 4G.
There are two mobile operators in the DPR and LPR – Phoenix and ISS, which was previously called Lugak. It was launched in 2015. On July 1, 2022, the LPR authorities announced the renaming of Lugakom to the ISS.
