The Government Commission on Legislative Activities did not support the idea of stores indicating the price of goods per 1 kg or 1 liter. About it reported TASS with reference to the commission’s review.
The initiative, according to the government commission, will lead to “an increase in the cost of the processes of displaying goods and making price tags and, as a consequence, to an increase in the final cost of goods for the consumer.”
The bill was introduced to the State Duma in June. Its author, State Duma Deputy Speaker Boris Chernyshov, explained that the project will protect consumers from situations where a manufacturer reduces production volume, but leaves the price the same. Chernyshov noted that an amendment would be made to the second reading of the bill, which would allow the government to approve a list of goods with a mandatory “fair price tag.”
Mid-August offer didn’t support and in the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Izvestia wrote. The Ministry noted that this could lead to an increase in prices due to the display of goods and the preparation of price tags, and this process should be automated, which will lead to additional costs.
