The Kremlin takes seriously the possible threats to the “Trinity” in the transfer of the Russian Orthodox Church

The Kremlin will ask experts for details about the possibility of transferring the icon “Trinity” by Andrei Rublev from the Tretyakov Gallery of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC), said the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov. The day before, a group of scientists said that the planned relocation of the icon puts it in serious danger.
Mr. Peskov claims that such expert opinions have not been given before. “We will talk with experts, talk it over. The topic is very serious. And, of course, we will find out the details, ”a Kremlin spokesman told Kommersant FM during a press call.
The “Trinity” was previously taken out of the Tretyakov Gallery to the Trinity Cathedral of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra in July 2022 at the personal request of Patriarch Kirill. The icon spent two days in the Lavra. Researchers and restorers of the Tretyakov Gallery did not support this decision and warned that it was impossible to transport the icon.
On May 15, 2023, the Russian Orthodox Church announced that Vladimir Putin had decided to return the Trinity icon to her.
