The Kalashnikov Concern is considering the possibility of including the Kirov Mayak plant group in the control loop. This is planned to be done to develop the production of high-precision weapons, reported press service companies. The transaction will require approval from the Federal Antimonopoly Service.

Kalashnikov clarified that the Kirov plant “has a modern production base and produces a wide range of products.” Mayak already supplies military equipment to the army and carries out dozens of government contracts every year. Its transfer under the control of Kalashnikov “will help strengthen the country’s defense capability,” the concern believes.

“The entry of the Mayak plant into the management circuit of Kalashnikov has a very clear logic… Mutual enrichment will clearly lead to an increase in the quality of the products produced, a reduction in costs and, as a result, a more precise and coordinated execution of state defense orders,” says the concern’s president, Alan Lushnikov. .

Weapons production in the Russian Federation has been increased against the backdrop of the military operation in Ukraine. “Kalashnikov”, in particular, increased production volumes of small arms by 40% per year. In December, at the board of the Ministry of Defense, President Vladimir Putin statedthat arms supplies to Russian troops have tripled compared to 2022.
