Russian Energy Minister Nikolai Shulginov said that the government is discussing the possibility of lifting the ban on the export of AI-95 and AI-92 gasoline, as well as brands of fuel with a lower octane number. According to Interfax, discussions about lifting the ban are ongoing at the government level, but no final decisions have been made yet.
From September 21, 2023, the Russian government introduced a temporary restriction on the export of gasoline and diesel. On October 6, a set of measures was adopted to ensure balance in the domestic petroleum products market. In particular, the ban on the export of diesel fuel was partially lifted. Companies were allowed to supply fuel abroad, but only through pipelines to seaports for producers and not more than half of the total output.
According to Kommersant sources, at a meeting led by Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, held On November 4, the Ministry of Energy was instructed to develop criteria for further lifting of restrictions. Kommersant’s interlocutors believe that some steps in this direction may be announced this week. Mr. Novak, meanwhile, publicly focused on the fact that the embargo made it possible to reduce wholesale fuel prices.
