The head of the Federal Agency for Fishery announced the retention by Norway of six fishing vessels of the Russian Federation

Norway, due to the restrictions imposed on Russian fishing vessels, actually keeps six such ships in its shipyards. About it told Head of the Federal Agency for Fishery Ilya Shestakov at a meeting with Governor of the Murmansk Region Andrey Chibis.
“The restrictions imposed by the Norwegians on the repair of fishing vessels are illegal, they actually keep six fishing vessels in their possession – this is the seizure of the property of another country,” the press service of the Federal Agency for Fishery quoted him as saying.
Shestakov expressed hope for the “predominance of reason” on the part of the Norwegian side and the return of ships after repairs to their native ports. At the same time, Shestakov called for “completely reviewing all plans” and organizing ship repairs in the region. For this, it is now important to start modernizing the Murmansk Sea Fishing Port, which was transferred to the management of the Federal Agency for Fishery, he believes.
“We have to carry out an inventory and large-scale modernization of the port – to build a modern logistics hub. By mid-July, we must submit our proposals for the development of the Murmansk port to the presidential administration,” he added.
In October last year, the Norwegian authorities restricted passage of Russian fishing vessels, allowing them to enter only three ports. At the same time, fishing companies complained last summer that they began to face more frequent refusals to repair ships in Norwegian ports.
