The head of SAP in Russia Andrey Filatov moved to a new project

Andrey Filatov, who served as head of the German software development company SAP in Russia, announced that he had left his post and moved to work in the new Lab SP project. In the near future, Mr. Filatov intends to enter the capital of Lab SP and become its managing partner. He spoke about this RBC.
Andrey Filatov said that Lab SP was founded at the end of 2022. The company’s activities are aimed at technical support and correction of SAP systems for customers in Russia, for example, their localization so that the systems can take into account changes in Russian legislation. In addition, Lab SP plans to start developing its own solutions and promoting products on the Russian market that complement the functionality of SAP systems.
“Now many companies do not know what to do with foreign systems – there is nowhere to migrate yet, the risks of such transitions are high, but they also do not understand how to maintain and develop systems. This is exactly what we will do,” said Andrey Filatov. According to him, the idea of creating Lab JV came to him after the management of the parent SAP refused to sell the Russian business to local management. At the moment, the company employs about 70 employees, natives of the Russian SAP. By the end of the year, their number may grow to 100 people.
In June 2022 SAP announced about the decision to completely leave the Russian market by the end of the year. In April, the company announced its refusal to work with Russian clients, and also stopped providing cloud services. The losses from leaving the Russian and Belarusian markets in the company were estimated at €350 million.
SAP supplies process management systems, such as logistics or production. In Russia, the company had about 1.5 thousand clients. Among the former clients of SAP are Gazprom, Sberbank and Norilsk Nickel. The manufacturer stopped providing services to them after the imposition of sanctions against these companies.
