The Walt Disney Company has announced new management changes. Sean Bailey, who served as president of live-action film production at Walt Disney Studios for 15 years, will leave his post. The decision takes effect immediately. His place will be taken by David Greenbaum, who until now headed the film studio Searchlight Pictures. This is reported by BBC.

The company does not disclose the reasons for this personnel change. Meanwhile, as the BBC notes, the box office for some films was weak, including “The Haunted Mansion” and “Jungle Cruise.” And this is another personnel rearrangement, which Walt Disney CEO Bob Iger has been implementing over the past year or so. Mr. Iger, who headed Walt Disney until 2021 and retired, in November 2022, at the request of management, again headed company to strengthen its significantly sagging performance.

As Sean Bailey himself said, 15 years at Disney “have been an incredible journey, but it’s time for a new chapter.” During his presidency, such popular films as “Alice in Wonderland”, “Maleficent”, “The Jungle Book”, “The Lion King”, “Beauty and the Beast” and many others were produced. In total, the films created under his leadership brought Walt Disney about $7 billion in revenue. Meanwhile, Mr. Bailey will not completely sever ties with Disney, having acted as a producer of the science fiction film “Tron: Ares” and a number of other projects from Walt Disney Studios.
