The head of AKIT pointed out the negative impact of the ban on marketplace trademarks

The ban on private labels for marketplaces, discussed in the Ministry of Industry and Trade, could negatively affect domestic production, said Artem Sokolov, president of the Association of Internet Trade Companies (AKIT). At the same time, he noted that AKIT takes into account the concerns of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

“Such a ban could lead to both current and future negative consequences for the investment climate and the influx of capital into the development of domestic production, especially in the food and light industries,” said “RIA News” Mr. Sokolov.

According to him, marketplaces contribute to the sale of goods produced in the regions of Russia, as well as investments in domestic production to create their own brand. “However, we understand what worries the industry department and are in dialogue with it. I think a solution that will not harm business and will alleviate the concerns of our regulator will be found,” said Artem Sokolov.

In June it became known that the Ministry of Industry and Trade intends to ban marketplaces with a turnover of 200 billion rubles. selling your own goods. The agency believes that online platforms cannot engage in their own trade, since the same products are sold by their partners, who cannot compete with the aggregator.

Yesterday, October 5, State Secretary-Deputy Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Viktor Yevtukhov said that banning the sale of own brands in large chains is “illogical,” since this could affect the cost of goods. At the same time, he emphasized that the issue of using private labels on online platforms is being discussed to regulate those cases when a seller goes bankrupt due to sales of marketplace products.
