Alexey Dubrovsky confirmed his family connection with Leonid Kmit
The newly appointed chief director of the Maly Theater, Alexei Dubrovsky, in a conversation with a MK correspondent, confirmed that he is the grandson of Leonid Kmit, an outstanding actor, known primarily as the performer of the role of Petka in the classic 1934 film Chapaev.
– Yes, this is my grandfather, a wonderful People’s Artist of the RSFSR. Besides Petka, he has many other roles, in total he has about ninety of them.
Answering a question about his main task in a high position, Dubrovsky said the following:
– For me, this is a great responsibility, given that the Maly Theater is a huge ship, which for 35 years was under the strict leadership of Yuri Methodievich Solomin. And my task is to continue the course of preserving the traditions of Russian psychological theater.
Let us recall that on January 29 it became known that a graduate of the Shchepkinsky School, a representative of the acting family (one might say, a dynasty) Alexey Dubrovsky took a high position in MT. Lately, he was considered Solomin’s “right hand,” so the personnel decision did not surprise anyone.
Let us also mention that Leonid Aleksandrovich Kmit (life dates – 03/09/1908 – 03/10/1982) after school worked as a simple mechanic, but then entered the Leningrad Institute of Performing Arts, after which a brilliant career awaited him, and he was precisely a pioneer of Soviet cinema , starring in black and white and even subsonic films, becoming a true legend.
