The government plans to index prices for gas produced by Gazprom and its subsidiaries for industrial consumers by 10% from December 1, 2023. This is stated in the materials for the draft budget for 2024 and the planning period 2025–2026.
The document explains that the wholesale price of gas will be increased “to generate income for gas producers necessary to cover the additional increase in the tax burden in 2024.” It is also reported that in 2024 it is expected that wholesale gas prices for all categories of consumers will be indexed by 11.2%, and in 2025 – by 8.2%. The indexation will be carried out “in order to ensure the reliability of gas supplies, as well as to continue the implementation of social gasification programs and connect new regions with the Unified Gas Supply System,” follows from the materials.
