The government has agreed with producers on fuel prices – Kommersant

The Russian government did not react to the sharp rise in oil prices on the world market, Vladimir Putin said. The authorities and producers agreed on further cooperation.

“The government did not react in a timely manner to changes in the world market due to rising oil prices, but this is a regulated position,” Putin said at a plenary meeting of the WEF. According to him, it was important to provide diesel to agricultural producers, now it already exists, but there is a question of price regulation.

Energy Minister Nikolai Shulginov said after the plenary session that the Ministry of Energy will implement additional measures to stabilize the fuel market in accordance with the instructions of the president.

In August, regions of the country were faced with rising fuel prices, as well as a shortage of petroleum products in retail. The fuel crisis arose due to a long-term increase in wholesale prices at the St. Petersburg International Commodity Exchange (St. Petersburg International Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange), which subsequently affected the retail price. Government plans regulate the situation through the mandatory sale of fuel on the stock exchange, as well as by reducing gasoline exports.

Nikolay Shulginov believes, that the fuel shortage in the south of the country is largely caused artificially: “someone simply tried to play on the situation – they closed gas stations, creating an artificial shortage.” The FAS will check the entire chain of fuel price formation and, in case of violations, will take antimonopoly regulation measures.

In addition, the minister links the fuel shortage to the planned repairs of the refinery. Against this background, fuel supplies have decreased.

Russian Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev in September spoke about the risk of disruption to the harvesting campaign and sowing of winter crops due to a lack of fuel for farmers in some regions. Governor of Sevastopol Mikhail Razvozhaev September 9 confirmed shortages of diesel fuel in the city. On September 12 he is on his Telegram channel reported, that changing supply logistics will eliminate the shortage in Crimea and noted that now the primary task is to provide fuel to farmers.
