The government did not agree on a deal between MTS and microelectronics manufacturer Element Group: the operator planned to negotiate with the vendor on the supply of an electronic component base instead of concluding a forward contract for the purchase of finished domestic telecom equipment. Three sources in various equipment manufacturers told Vedomosti about this.
The issue with the supply of components for telecom operators and the conclusion of forward contracts is resolved at the government level, since the order for the development of domestic solutions is formed within the Industrial Competence Centers (ICC). The initiator of the creation of the ICC to replace foreign solutions in key sectors of the economy, including communications, was Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin in June. Their manufacturers will be provided with targeted state support, Maksut Shadayev, head of the Ministry of Digital Development, said in October.
