The founder of the Moscow Jewish Theater “Shalom” and its former artistic director Alexander Levenbuk died at the age of 90. About this agency “RIA News” the theater reported.
“He died tonight. I was seriously ill for several years,” said the Shalom Theater.
Alexander Brod, a member of the Russian Presidential Council for the Development of Civil Society, reminded the agency TASSthat Alexander Levenbuk was the host of the “Baby Monitor” program. According to him, Mr. Levenbuk taught children “not only the rules of the Russian language, but also kindness and honesty.”
In the 1980s, Alexander Levenbuk worked as a director in collaboration with the writer Arkady Khait and staged the plays “A Kind Word Is Nice for a Cat” and “Is There an Extra Ticket?”
The Shalom Theater confirmed to RIA Novosti news agency that Mr. Levenbuk had died. They added that he had been seriously ill for the last few years. From 1987 to 2021, he headed the Shalom Theater, where, among other things, he appeared on stage as an actor in the plays “Yankel, Take and Kadir”, “Sevela’s Novels” and “The Enchanted Theater”.
