Whitney Hurd, who founded dating service Bumble in 2014, will leave her role as CEO of the company in January 2024. Reports this with reference to its own sources. The Wall Street Journal. She will, however, retain her position as executive chairman of the board.
Ms Heard will be replaced as the new CEO by Lydian Jones, who just took over Slack Technologies in January.
The CEO change comes at a challenging time for Bumble Inc., which also owns the Bumble for Friends, Badoo, Fruitz and Official apps. Since the company’s market capitalization peaked in September 2021, it has fallen from $11 billion to $2.36 billion.
Lydian Jones worked at Microsoft for more than a decade before becoming an executive at Salesforce, which acquired Slack in 2021. At Slack, she also succeeds the company’s CEO and founder, Stuart Butterfield.
