The show’s sixth season will be the final one, ending with Prince William meeting Kate Middleton during their college years. According to rumors, the casting of actors for the role of the future monarch and his wife was not easy and it looks unusual in its own way that the roles in the project were given to actors for whom shooting in The Crown was the first big experience of this kind.
Kate played Meg Bellamy, and Prince William at the age of meeting his future wife – Ed McVeigh. Both Meg and Ed have not yet participated in serious serial projects, but they have considerable theatrical experience, which, of course, is not superfluous.
The series “The Crown” has already developed its own traditions, including those related to the selection of actors. The plot of the first season of the project takes place in 1947 on the eve of the wedding of young Elizabeth and her chosen one Philip Mountbatten. Every two seasons, the actors of the main roles are changed to older ones, and in the sixth season both debutants and those who return to their roles will appear. For example, viewers will once again see Dominic West and Elizabeth Debicki as Prince Charles and Princess Diana.
From the very beginning of the series, he has been mercilessly criticized, including at the official level. Both representatives of the royal family and former prime ministers of Great Britain urged the creators of the project to indicate the fiction of the plot, which would help the public avoid misconceptions. And although the producers are extremely reluctant to make concessions, the death of Princess Diana in the sixth season still will not be shown. They want to convey the tragic atmosphere of the moment in less obvious ways.
