The first line of the Arctic LNG-2 LNG plant, the majority stake of which belongs to NOVATEK (MOEX: NVTK), will be launched before the end of 2023. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak stated this at the Russian-Chinese energy forum.
“Despite external challenges, the first line of the project will be launched by the end of the year. Shipments are scheduled to begin early next year. Plans to launch two more lines in 2024 and 2026 are also fully preserved,” he said (quoted by TASS).
The head of NOVATEK, Leonid Mikhelson, said on September 12 that the company is beginning commissioning work on the first line of the Arctic LNG-2 plant. According to him, it will reach its design capacity in the first quarter of 2024. The production of liquefied natural gas (LNG) on the second line of Arctic LNG-2, as Mr. Mikhelson said, will begin in December 2024.
Arctic LNG-2 is part of NOVATEK’s project to build LNG production lines. The capacity of each will be 6.6 million tons per year, the volume of stable gas condensate will be up to 1.6 million tons per year. The company plans to open all lines from 2023 to 2026.
On the eve of the State Duma accepted in the third, final reading, a law allowing the export of liquefied natural and associated gas (LNG) from areas located north of 67 degrees north latitude. Among them are the deposits of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the Nenets and Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.
