The first flight of the imported SSJ 100 aircraft will take place in September, but at this stage it will not be fully equipped with Russian components. This was told by the head of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) Yuri Slyusar on the air of the Russia-24 TV channel.
“All systems are already being developed, not all of them have been installed on this aircraft yet. The first flight of the aircraft, which we expect in September, will not be equipped with 100% Russian (components),” – leads his words to RIA Novosti.
Slyusar explained that the tests were deliberately divided into stages to speed them up. At the second stage, the aircraft will already fly with Russian PD-8 engines.
SSJ-New is a new, “import-substituted” version of the short-haul Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ100), which consists of 70% foreign components. As Vedomosti wrote, the development of SSJ-New will cost 120-130 billion rubles. This amount also includes the creation of the Russian PD-8 engine, on which the SSJ-New will fly. The current SSJ100 is powered by a Franco-Russian Sam146 engine, which has been discontinued.
It was previously reported that work on the production of prototypes of the SSJ New with PD-8 engines is planned to be completed in 2022 and 2023, and the mass production of new turbines – 44 units per year – should start in 2024. In total, by 2030 it is planned to produce 314 PD-8 engines.
In 2022, Russian aircraft manufacturers represented by UAC signed an agreement of intent with Aeroflot for the supply of 339 aircraft. According to the document, “Aeroflot» on a lease basis from 2023 to 2030 will receive 210 MS-21 aircraft, 89 SSJ New aircraft and 40 Tu-214 aircraft.
