The first batch of trains for the Moscow-St. Petersburg high-speed railway (HSR) will include 28 units. To purchase this batch, 148 billion rubles are needed, said the head of the Ministry of Transport, Vitaly Savelyev. He announced this amount at a meeting with the participation of President Vladimir Putin.

According to the minister, by 2026 it is necessary to prepare a prototype of the train and begin certification tests. It is planned to create a completely domestic train based on the production facilities of the Sinara group and Transmashholding. “In terms of purchasing rolling stock, 148 billion rubles are required. for the first batch, consisting of 28 trains planned for delivery on the line by 2028,” said Mr. Savelyev (quoted from website Kremlin).

Russian Railways has been designing a train for the HSR project since 2020. According to the Ministry of Transport, the financial model of the high-speed railway between Moscow and St. Petersburg includes 580 billion rubles. from the National Welfare Fund, as well as Gazfond bonds worth 290 billion rubles.
