Moscow, together with other interested regions, will take part in financing the high-speed railway (HSR) project to St. Petersburg. This was announced by the mayor of the capital Sergei Sobyanin following a meeting with the participation of Vladimir Putin.

It is planned that the high-speed railway will also pass through the Moscow region, Leningrad, Novgorod and Tver regions. According to Mr. Sobyanin, all these regions will participate in financing “to the extent possible.” “The existing station in Zelenograd will become larger. There will also be additional expansion of tracks and overpasses leading to it,” the mayor said (quoted by Interfax).

His deputy Maxim Liksutov said that high-speed trains will leave from the Leningradsky station with stops at the Rizhsky station, at Petrovsko-Razumovskaya and in Zelenograd. The final station in Moscow will be Leningradsky Station.

According to the head of Sberbank, German Gref, the Moscow-St. Petersburg high-speed railway will have “a dynamic pricing system, depending on the number of stops.” He did not name the approximate cost of a trip along the highway.
