The state prosecution requested Oleg Belkov, director general of the Bell shipyard (Rybinsk, Yaroslavl region), five and a half years in prison in a criminal case on the smuggling of two patrol landing boats. This was reported to Vedomosti by the defendant’s lawyer Dmitry Pak.
During the debate in the Rybinsk City Court, the defense asked for an excuse due to the lack of corpus delicti. Belkov is now under house arrest and does not admit his guilt.
Criminal case under Part 1 of Art. 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (smuggling of military equipment) against the general director of the Bell shipyard, the FSB initiated in February 2021, first he was placed under house arrest. According to Vedomosti’s source in law enforcement agencies, “Belkov committed smuggling, that is, the illegal movement of other military equipment across the customs border of the Customs Union within the framework of the EAEU, namely two small military motorized vessels.”
According to the source, we are talking about the delivery to the United Arab Emirates of two military boats, designed as civilian ones. Consideration of the criminal case in the Rybinsk City Court began in the summer of 2022.
Shipyard “Bell” was established in Rybinsk in 2019, it is engaged in the construction of ships, vessels and floating structures. From 2012 to 2018, the future CEO of the company, Belkov, headed the Vympel Rybinsk shipbuilding plant.
In April 2017, Belkov participated in a meeting of the president with the business community of the Yaroslavl region in Rybinsk. Putin then noted the growth of wages and labor productivity at the enterprise.
