The volume of the digital content market in RuNet at the end of 2023 will grow in monetary terms by 28% year-on-year and amount to 119.7 billion rubles, follows from the report of the Russian Association of Electronic Communications (RAEC). At the end of 2022, the decline in the segment was 39%, its volume was estimated at 93.5 billion rubles.
The growth of the market was influenced by the following factors: an increase in the number of ecosystem users, attracting audiences with exclusive content, a radical increase in interest in Russian production, as well as state support for media product producers. At the same time, the audience of pirated resources is increasing, as is their number, 80% of the online games market is in the gray zone, and copyrighted content is affected by the law on labeling and regulation, the document notes.
In May, RAEC is more dramatic assessed market decline in 2022: by 52% in monetary terms, to RUB 73.6 billion. Thus, the online games segment over the same period fell by 78%, to 21.8 billion rubles, the online music segment decreased by 40% year-on-year, to 7.1 billion rubles. Only the online video segment grew (by 7%, to RUB 33.3 billion), while the digital books category showed no growth (RUB 11.3 billion).
