The Deputy Head of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture noted a decrease in prices for egg producers

Deputy Minister of Agriculture Maxim Titov said that over the past two weeks, egg producers have reduced prices for eggs of both categories. According to him, prices for eggs in retail chains are also expected to decline in the near future, reports Interfax with reference to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.

“Over the past two weeks, producers’ prices have decreased by 2.5% for the first category and by 4.2% for the second category of eggs. In the near future we expect them to decrease in retail chains as well,” said Mr. Titov.

As Interfax reports, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Leningrad Region Oleg Malashchenko said that at poultry farms in the region, where the largest egg producers are located, there has been a decrease in selling prices for eggs. “The additional volume of eggs that appears at poultry farms and enters the market is traded on spot exchange platforms with a cost reduction of about 5%,” Mr. Malashchenko told the agency.

Earlier today, January 10, General Director of the Russian Poultry Union Galina Bobyleva statedthat egg prices will not go down. According to her, the established prices are 110–125 rubles. for a dozen – absolutely normal, fair and adequate for this product.

By the end of 2023, chicken eggs increased in price by 40%; they became more expensive in 46 regions of the Russian Federation. President Vladimir Putin argued that the reason for the increase in prices for chicken meat and eggs was an increase in demand. In December, eggs from Azerbaijan began arriving in Russia; in January came batch of Turkish eggs.
