The World Court of Moscow fined 6 million rubles. Discord for not removing content prohibited in the Russian Federation (part 2 of article 13.41 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation). We are talking about 11 materials containing pornographic content with minors.
According to Interfax, Discord’s defenders explained in court that the service removed all prohibited materials even before drawing up a protocol on an administrative violation. The service did not remove the prohibited materials after receiving the notice from the regulator, since it was sent to an email that was not intended for such letters. With this in mind, representatives of the service asked to impose a punishment on the company below the minimum possible.
Today, July 11, court hearings were also held in relation to the Dropbox file hosting (fined 2 million rubles for not deleting fakes about CBO) and the Twitch streaming service (twice fined for 3 million and 4 million rubles. for refusing to remove fakes about SVO).
At the moment, the largest Internet services – Google, Telegram, Facebook (owned by Meta, banned in the Russian Federation), Twitter, TikTok, the Wikimedia Foundation and others – have been held liable for not removing prohibited content.
