The Arbitration Court of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region seized the property of the German chemical company Linde at the suit of Rushimalliance. The total value of the arrested assets is 35 billion rubles, reports Interfax with reference to the data of “Rushimalliance” and the decision of the court.
According to the agency, the court, in particular, arrested the assets of Linde in Samara, Volgograd, Novotroitsk and Lipetsk. The German company estimates the value of the seized property at $1 billion, Interfax reports.
The arrest is related to the lawsuit of Rushimalliance LLC against Linde in the Hong Kong International Arbitration Center in connection with the failure of the German company to fulfill its obligations to build a gas processing plant in Ust-Luga in the Leningrad Region. The Russian company wants to sue Linde €946.54 million of the unworked advance and €25.7 million, 7.6 billion rubles. damages, the agency was told in court.
According to Interfax, Rushimalliance signed a contract with Linde in July 2021 for the design, procurement and construction of a gas processing plant. In June, the German company notified the customer about the suspension of work due to EU sanctions.
Rushimalliance believes that the sanctions do not cover work under the contract. “Since the work was never resumed, the applicant notified Linde of the termination of the contract on September 23, 2022,” the court told the agency.
On March 21, Linde announced that it was suspending “all means of developing new projects in Russia” in connection with the military operation in Ukraine. Earlier, the company withdrew from a joint project with Severstal for the production of heat exchangers for the gas industry and left the Amur GCC project of SIBUR.
