The Clash guitarist and co-founder Keith Levene has died at the age of 65. As reported The Guardianthe musician died at his home in the English county of Norfolk, he had liver cancer.
Keith Levene founded The Clash with Mick Johnson in 1976. They released their first album, Public Image: First Issue, in 1978, which charted at No. 22. The band’s second album Metal Box in 1979 is considered a post-punk classic. The Clash experimented with other genres as well, including dub, jazz, reggae and others.
In 2003, The Clash was inducted into the US Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. After the band broke up in the mid-1980s, Mr. Levan became the guitarist for Public Image Ltd.—the band was formed by Sex Pistols vocalist John Lydon.
