The Central Bank of Russia described the behavior of retail investors in the first half of 2022. According to him, investors reduced the volume of investments in foreign assets, and also reduced their interest in margin trading due to uncertainty in the stock market. According to the Central Bank, in 2022 the share of owners of small brokerage accounts with portfolios up to 10 million increased to 41% against 31% in 2021. At the same time, 1% of the wealthiest clients of brokers account for 74% of all assets, in trust management – 61%.
The average portfolio on brokerage services is 200 thousand rubles, on trust management – 1 million rubles. 92% of clients on brokerage services have a portfolio with assets of less than 100 thousand rubles, on trust management – 56%.
The weighted average yield of brokerage clients fell by 25.8% in the first half of 2022, and by 8% on trust management.
