The head of the German energy group Uniper Klaus-Dieter Maubach intends to step down this year after the nationalization of the company, reported press service Uniper. David Bryson, COO of the energy company, also announced his resignation.
“Klaus-Dieter Maubach and David Bryson have announced their departure from Uniper,” the press release reads.
Uniper said in a statement that Maubach and Bryson will continue to serve until a suitable replacement is found. Personnel changes in the company occurred against the backdrop of the nationalization of Uniper.
December 22, 2022 it became known that the German government completed the process of nationalization of the German energy concern Uniper, as a result of which the German government received approximately 99% of the company’s shares. In a joint press release from the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Economy and Climate Protection of Germany, it was explained that such a step was necessary to ensure the reliability of the country’s energy supply.
At the end of August Uniper requested from the state development bank of Germany to extend the credit line for another 4 billion euros, since the company has already completely used up the previous loan for 9 billion euros. The company indicated that they lose more than 100 million euros daily due to the reduction in Gazprom supplies and rising gas prices in Europe. Unjustified, from the point of view of Uniper, the reduction of supplies by Gazprom led to a record loss of 12.4 billion euros for the company in the first half of the year, as it had to buy falling volumes at higher prices.
