The Central Bank extended restrictions on the withdrawal of personal funds from deposits and accounts of Russians in foreign currency for another six months.
“Citizens who have not yet had time to take advantage of this opportunity since March 9, 2022 can only withdraw money in foreign currency that was received on an account or deposit before March 9, 2022. The remaining funds can still be received in rubles at the market rate on the day of withdrawal. The issuance of foreign currency is carried out in US dollars or euros, regardless of the currency of the deposit or account. message Bank of Russia. In addition, credit institutions can only sell the national currency of the United States and the EU countries, which entered the cash desks from April 10, 2022.
The Bank of Russia explains the extension of restrictions by the action of sanctions imposed against our country. The sanctions policy is aimed, among other things, at prohibiting the acquisition of Western currencies by domestic financial institutions. The regulator also noted that there are no restrictions on the sale of other foreign currencies.
In addition, for the same period, the Central Bank extended the restrictions for legal entities: you can receive travel expenses in foreign currency in the amount of no more than 5 thousand dollars or the equivalent amount in euros, pounds sterling, yen. Restrictions do not apply to other currencies.
