Deputy Chairman of the Bank of Russia Alexei Zabotkin said that the regulator may raise the key rate at the next meeting of the Board of Directors. It will take place on September 15th.
“The lower limit of the forecast for the range of the key rate until the end of the year – 8.5% – allows for the possibility of the rate remaining unchanged. But based on previous communication experience, if the board of directors in the release admits the possibility of raising the rate at the next meetings, then it is likely that this will be done at the next one, ”said the newspaper “News” Alexey Zabotkin.
The last meeting of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank took place on July 21. It was decided to raise the key rate from 7.5% to 8.5% per annum. According to the Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank, the policy of the regulator is aimed at returning and stabilizing inflation at the target level of 4% in the long term. “And on all assumptions, it is highly likely that more than just one July increase will be needed,” he added.
